The days are getting shorter and one can think of far greater things than going out into the cruel outside world where cold winds and social interactions seem to attack one out of every corner. Life confined to the small spaces of one’s bedroom can get quite boring sometimes and maybe you’re tired of binge-watching Netflix until your eyes bleed. Well let me introduce you to this cool non-electronic thing which is called a book and can possibly entertain you for hours. So, listen up geeks, bored people or those of you who just clicked on this article because they felt like it. I will give you some book recommendations which will probably rock your world.
All right, still not satisfied? Well the next book is one that everybody who I recommended it to actually genuinely loved. Sooo, in case you end up hating it, there must be something inherently wrong with you.
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
The book in question is “the Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. The plot is quite simple – it follows a young shepherd named Santiago who leaves his homeland Spain and his beloved sheep in search for a treasure in the pyramids of Egypt, after dreaming about it several times. Along the way he meets several people and overcomes multiple obstacles which all lead to him finding the treasure. This story is less about actually finding something, as its focus is rather on the journey itself and how everybody has a personal quest to follow their dreams.
This book is one of the most touching and inspiring stories I have ever had the privilege of reading. Screw your fitness guru guides and your lifestyle tips, read this book and you will have real advice to follow! Paulo Coelho has written many books which have attracted countless readers but the Alchemist is probably the most known, as it almost seems to outline the story of the authors‘ life itself.
Memorable quotes:
“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”
“The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.”
“You will never be able to escape from your heart. So, it’s better to listen to what it has to say.”
